This Kala baritone is a very nicely made quality instrument and sounds great too. I like the on board tuner, makes it easy to tune on the go without having to clamp on a separate piece. The EQ makes it even better for performing and the case is perfect for transporting the instrument. All in all I'm very happy with the purchase. If you've ever been intrigued or interested in an 8 string uke, this is the one for you! It's affordable, and honestly easier to play that many other tenor ukes I've owned in the past. For those that don't know, an 8 string uke is similar to a 12 string guitar, with each of the strings doubled. The one big difference that adds a ton of angelic overtones is that there are two different octave strings for the G and C… making it sound like a small orchestra is living inside the uke! It's beautiful, with gold tone accents and a pass through headstock, and for the money it's probably the best sounding uke out there. The bundled hard case and polishing cloth are both really nice touches, especially because you'll want to take care of this thing! There could be a bit more resonance to the body… my wife's Kala Concert has a bit more BOOM to it, but honestly with the doubled strings it'd LOUD! The rigidness is likely necessary to hold the huge amount of pressure created by all those extra strings. One word of warning to a beginner. The bundled tuner is a bit odd for use. It is designed to be set to "U" for ukulele, but on the first tuning I might suggest leaving it on "C" for chromatic so you can get a good feel for where you are. The high C string is quite a stretch from the detuned state that it comes in, and I have to admit that I was definitely cringing as a wrenched that string all the way up to the second octave. It's a very rare string to find so make sure you don't snap it! Believe it or not, it should be the same sound as the third fret of the "A" string, so you can use that for reference.Once it's all tuned up, it created a beautiful sound only rivaled by some of the handmade Koa ukes I've gotten for at least twice the price on the island. My only wish is that it came with an electric pickup! If you want an amazing instrument that's tough enough to withstand Amazon shipping, here it is!I love it. Did not come with a tuner....gives u an app to tune but would much rather have a tuner insteadThe sound is beautiful. The playability is easy. The looks are gorgeous. I can not put it down. My friend had one, I played it for a couple minutes, I went home and immediately ordered one. The sound is clear and loud. This is a great buy.Really have been enjoying this uke, beach, bonfire, or walking down the street. I went with the next step up for my second ukulele. My first was a different brand, tenor, a little over $100 and the body cracked within the first few months. I admit I am going to baby my six string a bit more, but even as a fairly new ukelele player, please spend a little more on a uke that will hold up.I can be hard on instruments, , especially when learning, but this six string really has a decent sound. More rich and full than a typical 4 string tenor uke.Tuner in package deal not amazing, but uke, case, even strings equates to me smiling.Great Uke! Very well made, a rich and deep sound. Action is great and a joy to play. It has become my favorite. If your looking for a uke with big, deep rich sound this is it.This is a very good uke. I have an 8 string by lanikia and this one is very similar to that. It has a different sound with a low A string. It does have a nice tone and plays well. The only complaint that I have is with the bundle they sent it with a baritone case so the uke is loose. I'm going to get some foam and try to make it fit better. It does fit nice in the case I have for my 8 string. On time. Packaged well. Well built. Great sound. Bag has extra padding. Nice enough tuner. Everything was exactly as expected. Looking for a nice sound at a affordable price...kala will work well for u.
